Painting: Erica Brook
Artist's profile:
Erica Brook works in most media across a wide range of subject areas. Each theme is a springboard for experimentation with materials, colour and shape.

The landscape of the Staffordshire Moorlands is a continual source of inspiration: the hilly market town of Leek with its interesting architecture; and, to the North, the rocky outcrop of the Roaches marking the start of the Pennines.

Erica teaches painting, drawing and art history to adults in Cheddleton, Staffordshire.

Painting: Hilary Jefferies
Artist's profile:
I work with a variety of media and have a particular desire to explore different materials and techniques to achieve a richness of colour and depth in my work as a personal interpretation of the landscape. I like to take advantage of the 'chance' elements to harness mood and atmosphere.

I seek to create an image that has a sense of mystery yet is harmonious in colour and composition, to share with the viewer the excitement and enthusiasm that goes into each piece of work. I usually draw primarily 'on site' in watercolour. I then develop my work with acrylics inks pastels and any materials that combine together as a whole to produce the desired result

You are most welcome to visit my studio by appointment only all year around

Painting: Joanne Reay
Artist's profile:

As a mixed media artist, I like to create spontaneous, bright and colourful pieces usually on aluminium. Inspired by family life, I like to focus on the positive side of life and portray this in my work using a wide range of techniques including screen printing, collage, image transfer and painting.

I work from home where I prefer to be undisturbed. However, I regularly attend the Sunday Supplement market in Leek, Staffordshire every first Sunday of the month. I also attend the Treacle Market in Macclesfield (3rd Sunday of the month) and the Artisan Market in Wilmslow (4th Saturday of the month) on occasion.

Painting: Lisa Henderson
Artist's profile:
Using a range of media my work is concerned with the appearance and actuality of the surfaces that surround us. My paintings, using collaged recycled and pre-prepared papers, drawings in chalks or graphite, and collagraphs, celebrate pattern and the idiosyncrasies of sight. Through several on-going series, the work is sometimes searchingly observational but also a product of rememberings and the inner eye.

To achieve the richness of texture and colour associated with my work, I use many techniques more usually associated with printmaking such as collage, wiping, scratching and breaking into the surface to hold the colour and enable patination. A precarious balance between process, materials, and intervention encourages my work to take an active role in its own creation.

I exhibit frequently, welcome the challenge of commissions and occasionally draw on my lecturing background to run workshops. From works of a few centimetres to several metres for public commissions, prices range from around £100 to over £3000. Some are also available as giclee prints and cards.

Painting: Sheila Jones
Artist's profile:

I began painting after taking early retirement, developing my enthusiasm and skill in the subject at community art classes. I then went on to study at Lichfield Art College where I completed a Diploma in Art and Design. My main interest is large scale flowers and landscape painting and I use watercolours, acrylics and oils, often combining the mediums to produce the artwork that I like. My approach is informal and often semi-structured because I like to have a feel for the flowers and landscape rather than mimicry. I also write an article for the LINK Magazine each month, usually on one aspect of an artist or the art world, and I teach an art group on Friday afternoons, during term time at St Andrew's Church Hall, Great Wyrley, between 1-3 pm. There is a small fee of £2.00 per session and we provide free refreshments. There are the usual facilities within the building, including wheelchair access, and there is plentiful onsite parking.

Painting: Vitor MM Azevedo
Artist's profile:
Vitor is a visual artist based in the Midlands originally from Portugal. Vitor likes to use the influences of his culture and the journeys he has experienced to stimulate a menu of techniques whilst blending mediums. His work is experimental to provoke communication and thought. Flashes of colour and bold lines present an array of choice for the viewer so every image tells a different story. Vitor is a freelance practitioner currently based at the Brewhouse in Burton, leading on creative classes for adults and children, residencies and gallery development.

A lot of Vitor's work recognises personal history which stems from a background of religious symbolism, family values, a love of the sea and the traditions of Portugal. Vitor enjoys the exploration of these memories to freeze a portion of his own personal, cultural and social history through the construction of specific materials and concepts.
